An 18-year-old college student was stoned to death on Tuesday in Gangavalli here after the victim and her family rejected her marriage proposal.
M. Roja from Koodamalai village was pursuing a third year BA course in a private college in Attur, while R.A from Thandavarayapuram in Attur. Samidurai was studying in a college in Chennai. Both were relatives. Samidurai expressed his desire to marry her and approached his father Murugesan. But the family members refused to marry him.
When Rosa was alone at home, Samidurai went there and forced her to marry him. When she refused, he hit her with a big stone, killing her on the spot. The Gangavalli police sent the body to the government hospital in Attur for post-mortem. Raids are being conducted to arrest the accused.
