Man thrashed to death, three arrested

A 25-year-old man was thrashed to death by three men in Avadi because he delayed paying ₹10,000 to one of them.

The victim has been identified as tractor driver M Manoj and is a resident of Gauripettai near Avadi.

Manoj had met a 33-year-old friend of Pudhu Nagar, G.K., about six months ago. Prabhu, a water lorry driver, borrowed ₹10,000 and failed to repay it. Prabhu immediately demanded money. According to the police, Manoj had allegedly threatened to kill Prabhu last week. On Friday morning, Prabhu went to the parking lot with his companions. Police said they argued with Manoj and attacked him indiscriminately with an iron rod and fled the spot.

Manoj was taken to Government Stanley Hospital where he was declared brought dead on arrival. Based on a complaint, Avadi police arrested 26-year-old Prabhu, P. Satish of Kamarajar Nagar and 24-year-old S. Pattabiram. Francis arrested.
