Man tweets picture of rat in bread packet ordered from Blinkit, company responds

A lot of people are now using instant delivery apps like Swiggy, Big Basket and Blinkit to order groceries and other items. These applications have made life easier for many people and have also given them the facility to make hassle free payments. However, in a horrific incident, a user ordered a packet of bread from Blinkit and found a mouse trapped inside.

Nitin Arora took to Twitter to share his horrifying experience. In the video and photo shared by him, a mouse can be seen roaming inside a packet of bread. According to Mr Arora, the incident took place on 1 February. Stuff, @blinkitcares I’d rather wait a few hours than pick up an item like this. #blinkit #zomato,” he wrote in the caption.

He also shared a screenshot of his chat with a Blinkit support executive. The company apologized and said that “the concern is genuine.”

“Yes, I can see, your concern is genuine. I deeply apologize to you for this issue. We have taken note of it and will take it forward at our end. Your response for this specific incident has been noted and we will definitely take corrective measures to rectify the same,” the assistant executive said.

The company also took to Twitter to say, “Hi Nitin, this is not the experience we wanted you to have.” They asked Mr Arora to share his phone number and order details so that they can initiate further enquiries.

His post has surprised many users since it was shared. One person said, “Better late than never. Try to ensure good and safe delivery.”

“#EnglishOven and #Blinkit as much as this needs explaining. I wonder if our food safety authorities actually audit these places from time to time and check for “safety,” commented another user .

A third person said, “They will be bringing cats into service for further deliveries.”

Another user said, “If I find a rat, I will call the police. It is very dangerous.”

“This is common from Blinkit. I have complained about receiving a bread packet that was torn, and the bread inside had been gnawed by a mouse. When I contacted customer support on the app, they asked my account Their warehouses are infested with insects. They don’t care,” added another person.
