A 50-year-old man and a woman were found dead and two others unconscious in a club cabin in Gurugram’s DLF Phase-III area on Monday.

The man has been identified as Sanjeev Joshi, a resident of Hisar and brother of the owner of the club, he said.

He was in the cabin with three women. Police said that one of them died and the other two were found unconscious.

The cabin, where they gathered around 2 am on Monday night to celebrate a woman’s birthday, did not have ventilation. Due to the cold, angithi- a kind of stove- was lit, he said. Police said that since Sanjeev Joshi was the brother of Night Rider club owner Rajan Joshi, the staff members did not harass or check him and left for their homes.

He told that when the club was being cleaned at around 5 pm on Monday, the workers there went to the cabin and when they opened its door, the room was full of smoke.

He informed Rajan Joshi about the incident. Police said they reached the spot and took the four to a private hospital, where Sanjeev Joshi and the woman were declared brought dead, while the other two women are undergoing treatment.

“Prima facie it appears to be a case of death due to suffocation. Deputy Commissioner of Police (East) Virendra Vij told PTI that the bodies have been sent for postmortem and further investigation is underway. He said that the forensic team visited the spot.

Police said they have not found any evidence of a fight in the cabin, but are probing all angles.
