Manchester United beat Brighton and Hove Albion in a thrilling penalty shootout in their FA Cup semi-final at Wembley on Sunday after the final finished 0-0 after extra time to set up a first-ever all-Manchester clash.

Solly March, Brighton’s seventh player to take a place in the shootout, launched the ball over the bar before Victor Lindelof found the net to seal a 7–6 shootout win for United.

The thrilling finish was a fitting end after a wild swing of 120 goalless minutes in an end-to-end game all night.

Treble-chasing Manchester City progressed to the final after beating Sheffield United 3-0 in their semi-final on Saturday.

Sunday’s semi was a rematch of the 1983 final, when Brighton lost to United in South Coast’s only appearance in a showcase game.

12-time FA Cup winners Erik ten Haag’s United are chasing a cup double after winning the League Cup in February.
