Mangalore, Karnataka:

The Airports Authority of India (AAI) has issued an official Aeronautical Information Publication (AIP) supplement which says the city and airport name will be changed from Mangalore to Mangaluru with effect from December 1.

The AIP supplement said it aims to officially inform all stakeholders about the name change of Mangalore airport and Mangalore city in AIS (Aeronautical Information Service) products.

The name of the city ‘Mangalore’ has been changed to ‘Mangaluru’ and the name of the airport ‘Mangalore’ Airport has been changed to ‘Mangaluru International Airport, Mangaluru’.

According to AAI, the AIP is the basic aviation document primarily intended to meet international requirements for permanent aeronautical information exchange and long-term temporary changes required for air navigation.

AAI handed over the airport to the Adani Group for 50 years of operation, management and development in October 2020.
