The great vessel gives branches to all the major organs of the body such as the heart, brain, kidney, liver, intestines and organs. Aortic disease and injuries are often life-threatening with 40–50% of patients dying.
Speaking to reporters at a press conference here, Dr CB Keshavamurthy, Head, Consultant Interventional Cardiology, Cardiothoracic and Vascular Surgeon Dr Upendra Shenoy Explained about the various procedures that are done while performing this type of complex aortic surgery.
