Mann Ki Baat: PM Modi urges people to celebrate ‘River Utsav’ once a year

Prime Minister Narendra Modi urged people to observe ‘River Utsav’ on the occasion of “World River Day” on Sunday to connect with the traditions associated with rivers in our country for centuries.

Addressing the 81st episode of his monthly radio program ‘Mann Ki Baat’, PM Modi said, “We celebrate so many days, but there is one more day that we should celebrate. It is ‘World River Day’. This day is like this. Which is in accordance with the traditions of India.

He described September as an important month, a month when we celebrate World Rivers Day, and said that it is a day to remember the contribution of our rivers that selflessly provide us with water.

The Prime Minister said that for Indian rivers “not a physical object, but a living entity”.

“As we celebrate World River Day today, I urge people across the country to celebrate ‘River Utsav’ at least once a year,” he said.

“Even a little pollution in rivers is wrongly described in our scriptures,” he said, urging people to follow the principles of Mahatma Gandhi “who made cleanliness a mass movement” and keep rivers clean. . .

The radio program comes after his recently concluded visit to the United States where he addressed the 76th session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA).
