Mark Ruffalo, Hugh Laurie join Netflix series ‘All the Light We Can See’

The series will focus on Marie-Laure, a blind teenager whose path runs into German soldier Werner as they both try to escape the devastation of World War II in occupied France.

Actors Mark Ruffalo and Hugh Laurie have joined the cast of Netflix’s limited series “All the Light We Can See”.

The show is based on author Anthony Doerr’s Pulitzer Prize-winning novel of the same name, which was published in 2014. Diversity.

The four-episode series will focus on Marie-Laure, a blind teenager whose path bumps into German soldier Werner as they both try to escape the devastation of World War II in occupied France.

Aria Mia Loberti, a blind actor, will play the lead role of Marie-Laure in the series.

Ruffalo will play Danielle LeBlanc, Marie-Laure’s father, who is described as caring and smart. Daniel, the principal locksmith at the Natural History Museum in Paris, tries to protect his daughter while giving her freedom. He is also trying to protect the secret gem they take away from Nazi occupation.

Laurie will play Etienne LeBlanc, an eccentric and reclusive World War I hero suffering from PTSD. tienne is a nervous shut-in who records covert radio broadcasts as part of the French Resistance.

“Free Guy” director Shawn Levy will head the series with “Peaky Blinders”’ Steven Knight serving as writer.

The two will also executive produce the limited series with Dan Levine and Josh Barry of Levi’s 21 Laps Entertainment.
