Tyler faced the wrath of football fans for making controversial comments on Tottenham striker Son Heung-min.

Tyler’s remarks, which were believed to be racist in nature, were heard during Sunday’s Premier League match between Liverpool and Tottenham.

South Korean international Son Heung-min was shown a yellow card in the 52nd minute for pulling the back of Liverpool forward Cody Gakpo’s jersey.

Tyler, describing the incident, compared the son’s act to “martial arts”.

His highly controversial comment soon sparked massive outrage on social media.

One user slammed the commentator, calling the whole incident “shocking”.

“If Martin Tyler has a million haters I’m one of them. If he has 100 haters I’m still one of them. If he has 1 hater it’s me. If he has 0 haters So it means I am dead.’

Another Twitter user even demanded the retirement of Martin Tyler.

Most dismissed Tyler’s remarks as purely racist.

Earlier, Tyler was forced to apologize last year for making offensive remarks about the custodian of Ukraine.

Tyler has said that Hirhy Buschen will have to “soldier on” despite suffering an injury during a World Cup qualifying match against Wales.

The comment, which apparently alluded to Russia’s invasion of Ukraine in February 2022, angered football fans. However, he was reportedly heard saying “sorry” on-air shortly after making the comment.

Coming back to the fixtures, the Spurs suffered a defeat at the hands of Liverpool on Sunday.

Liverpool kicked off the game on a promising note and within 15 minutes they were leading by three goals.
