Martyr’s Day observed in Kozhikode district

The district remembered Mahatma Gandhi through various programs on his 75th death anniversary on Monday.

Kerala Sarvodaya Mandalam in association with National Service Scheme (Senior Secondary) organized a Peace Message Tour and a Communal Harmony Pledge in Kozhikode city. The march began from the office of the Deputy Director of Education and was inaugurated by Mayor Bina Philip while Mandalam District Committee President C. Chanthukutty Master presided.

The District Congress Committee garlanded the Gandhi statue near Kozhikode Corporation, while Shankarika Vedi organized a Gandhi Smriti Sabha at the venue under the aegis of freedom fighter Thayat Balan. The District Sarvodaya Mandalam also organized an “anti-communalism” and Gandhi Smriti Sabha at the Martyr Stambh. The All India Youth Federation also organized a ‘Patriotic Convention’ at Muthalakkulam.

The prizes of the Gandhi quiz organized by the District Information Office in collaboration with Gandhi Memorial Fund and Balussery Sarvodayam Trust on January 26 were distributed on Martyr’s Day. District Information Officer K. Deepa gave away prizes to the winners of lower primary, upper primary and high school categories at the function organized at Gandhi Park, Balussery.
