According to a senior company official, Maruti Suzuki India’s pending orders have risen to around 4.05 lakh units this month as booking inflow remains steady, while newly launched SUVs Jimny and Frons also add to the numbers .

Bookings for the Jimny have crossed 11,000 units, while those for the Fronic stand at around 4,000 units.

In the third quarter ending December 2022, the company’s pending customer orders stood at around 3.63 lakh vehicles, of which around 1.19 lakh orders were for newly launched models.

Maruti Suzuki India Senior Executive Officer, Marketing & Sales, “We are at around 4,05,000 bookings (currently) which are pending, and that means we are seeing a pretty decent level of booking and inquiry inflow. ” , Shashank Srivastava told PTI.

Inquiries are 28% higher and bookings are 16% higher in the same month this year as compared to January 2022, he added.

Mr Srivastava said the growth in pending orders has also been accelerated by the company’s two newly launched SUVs – the Jimny and the Fronx, which were unveiled at the Auto Expo 2023 earlier this month.

“The response has been great, especially for the Jimny, as well as for the Frons… We are getting bookings for the Jimny at the rate of around 1,000 per day. We have received over 11,000 orders for the Jimny so far Gone.” Srivastava said.

Also for Franks, the booking rate is around 300 per day, taking the total to close to 4,000, he said.

Maruti Suzuki India hasn’t announced the prices of these two new models, and they are slated to hit the market this “spring”.

Earlier, the company had said that with the improvement in semiconductor supply, it is expected to have less impact on production and this will reduce the number of pending orders.

In the third quarter, a shortage of electronic components affected the company’s production of about 46,000 vehicles.

In 2022, Maruti Suzuki plans to sell 15.76 lakh units as against 13.64 lakh units in 2021, a growth of around 16%.
