Jaipur: Syed Salman Chishti, Khadim (Maulvi) of Ajmer Dargah became history-sheeter who appealed to kill former BJP spokesperson Nupur Sharma Has been arrested for his remarks against Prophet Muhammad.
In a video that went viral on social media on Tuesday, Chishti had offered his house and property to the one who eliminated Nupur.
Chishti is also reportedly heard saying that he would shoot the Prophet for insulting him.
Officials said the accused, Khadim Salman Chishti, is a “history-sheeter” and may have recorded the video while in an inebriated state. Ajmer police had registered an FIR against him on Monday night.
Dargah police station SHO Dalbir Singh Faujdar said, “Salman Chishti was caught last night (Tuesday)… He is a history-sheeter in the Dargah police station.”
Ajmer Assistant Superintendent of Police Vikas Sangwan said Chishti was nabbed at his residence in Khadim Mohalla.
“Prima facie he made the video in an inebriated state. He is being questioned further,” the ASP said.
“You have to answer all Muslim countries. I am saying this from Ajmer, Rajasthan, and this message is from Huzur Khwaja Baba’s court,” he says in the video, purportedly referring to the Sufi shrine, where many Hindus Visitors come. Apart from Muslim devotees.
Last week, on June 17, four persons were arrested in connection with another provocative speech allegedly made at the main gate of Ajmer Dargah.
Although the video was in circulation earlier, the arrests were made after the murder of Kanhaiya Lal, a tailor from Udaipur, by two men who they said were avenging the insult to Islam.
However, two men were caught by the police while they were escaping on a motorcycle in Rajsamand. Altogether five people have been arrested in connection with the murder, which is being probed by the National Investigation Agency.
