mcd election 2022Amid much hyped December municipal body elections in the national capital, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Saturday released its first list of 232 candidates. Remaining 18 candidates of Bharatiya Janata Party will be announced later.

The party has fielded Kesharani Khatri from Narela (West) constituency, Anil Tyagi from Burari, Urmila Rana from Kadipur, Suman Sharma from Azadpur (West), Anubhav Dhir from Adarsh ​​Nagar, Lallu Singh Thakur from Bhalswa, Divya Jha from Jahangirpuri, Gayatri Yadav. fielded in the election. Samaypur Badli (W), Rohini-A’s Naveen Garg, Rithala’s Narendra Solanki, Model Town’s Vikesh Sethi and others for MCD elections. After a flood of around 15,000 potential candidates seeking tickets in BJP’s Delhi unit went through a screening process, at least three candidates contested for a seat.

Meanwhile, the Aam Aadmi Party on Saturday named Bobby Kinnar, a member of the transgender community, as its candidate for the upcoming Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) elections. The transgender candidate will contest against BJP candidate Ekta Jatav in Sultanpuri-A ward. Bobby had earlier contested the 2017 MCD elections as an independent candidate. Although Bobby lost the election, the candidacy caused quite a stir.

AAP is now counting on him to win from Ward No 45 of MCD. Sultanpuri-A ward is a reserved seat for Scheduled Caste (SC) candidates. AAP’s Sanjeev Kumar had won the seat in the 2017 elections. Delhi Chief Minister and AAP national convener Arvind Kejriwal has released the party’s manifesto for the December 4 elections, saying his government will work on fulfilling 10 “guarantees”.

“We will work to fulfill 10 guarantees. We will clean Delhi’s roads and solve the problem of garbage dumps. We will also beautify parks,” Kejriwal told a press conference. He also promised to make the MCD corruption-free and solve vehicle-parking problems as part of his manifesto for the elections. Kejriwal assured that the MCD workers would be paid on time. Kejriwal held a meeting with top officials in the national capital on 9 November. The meeting was followed by an important meeting of AAP MLAs, chaired by Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia and attended by the party’s state convenor and minister Gopal Rai.

He was assigned responsibilities at different levels for the preparation of civic elections. In preparation for the elections, AAP has also launched a ‘Kude Pe Jan Samvad’ campaign, during which AAP leaders will listen to people’s garbage problems and discuss their solutions. Jansamvad (public relations). Till November 20, the party plans to hold a public dialogue in each of Delhi’s 13,682 civic booths. It has been decided that the party will hold around 500 public meetings daily.

The meeting will be led by the party MLAs. AAP office-bearers have been directed to visit all areas of Delhi, meet people and try to understand their issues. Earlier, the total number of civic wards in the national capital was reduced from 272 to 250 following a notification issued by the home ministry. The notification is related to the rescheduling of MCD wards. The nomination process for the election is already underway. The last date for filing nominations is November 14 and scrutiny of forms will take place on November 16. The last date for withdrawal of nominations is November 19.

Notably, the BJP has ruled the civic bodies since 2007. In the 2017 civic body elections, the BJP won 181 out of 270 wards. Voting could not be held in two seats due to the death of the candidates. AAP had won 48 wards, while Congress managed to win 27.

The counting of votes will take place on December 7.
