The officials also decided to conduct checks in different parts of the district to keep an eye on any “mischief attempt” during the festivals, after a meeting on Saturday to review the preparations for Eid and Yatra. Suhas, who presided over the meeting, asked the police to ensure that no civilian is harassed during the checking operation.
The DM later told TOI, “During the meeting held with police officers and other department heads, they have been asked to prepare a detailed plan to ensure hassle-free Kanwar Yatra in the district. After finalizing the routes. Afterwards, the officials will visit and identify the meat and liquor shops that will remain closed during the visit.”
The DM also asked the Public Works Department and civic officials to repair roads and curb the use of plastic disposals and the traffic wing to manage vehicles. “The PWD officers should work with the traffic department and the regional transport officer for better coordination and ensure that potholes are rectified before the Kanwar Yatra,” he said.
The officials of the Electricity Department have been instructed to ensure uninterrupted power supply in the district during the journey. The DM said, “Once the routes are finalised, the electricity department will have to ensure the maintenance of open wires on the travel route so that no accidents take place during the 13-day festivities.”
The Health Department will deploy doctors in the main camps of Kanwariyas.
Noida Police Commissioner Alok Singh Additional commissioners of police, DCPs and SHOs of all zones have been asked to conduct checking operations near metro stations, jewelery markets and other crowded places. “The security situation is being monitored and talks are on with some religious groups for better coordination,” a police officer said.
