Meet the 12-member Kasturirangan committee that will design the NCF

New Delhi: The Central Government has constituted a committee to prepare four designs. National Curriculum Framework (NCF) and prepared a roadmap for the school education sector.

There are 12 members who will play a key role in designing pedagogy, help in revision of books if necessary and help in implementing the National Policy on Education (NEP) effectively.

Of. Kasturirangan (Chairman): An Indian space scientist, Kasturirangan headed the Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) from 1994 to 2003. He is the recipient of three major civilian awards – Padma Shri (1982), Padma Bhushan (1992) and Padma Vibhushan (2000). . He was earlier the chairman of the NEP Drafting Committee.

Mahesh Chandra Pant: He is the chancellor of the National Institute of Educational Planning and Administration, a body under the Union Ministry of Education.

Govind Prasad SharmaSharma is the chairman of the government’s book publishing body National Book Trust.

Najma AkhtarAkhtar is a renowned educationist. Since April 2019, she has been the Vice-Chancellor of Jamia Millia Islamia, the Central University of New Delhi.

TV Kattimani: Former Vice Chancellor of Indira Gandhi National Tribal University, Amarkantak (MP), Kattimani is now the Vice Chancellor of Central Tribal University, Andhra Pradesh.

Michelle DaninoHe is an Indian writer of French origin. He is Guest Professor at IIT Gandhinagar. In 2017, the Government of India awarded him the Padma Shri for his contribution in the field of literature and education.

Milind Kamble: An Indian entrepreneur, Kamble is also the founder of the Dalit Indian Chamber of Commerce and Industry. In 2013, he was awarded the Padma Shri, and is currently the President of IIM-Jammu.

Jagbir Singh: Singh is a former Professor and Head of the Department of Punjabi, University of Delhi. He is now the Chancellor of Punjab Central University, Bathinda.

Manjul BhargavaHe is a renowned American mathematician of Indian origin and was also a part of the NEP drafting committee.

MK Sridhar: He is a trainer and a social worker and has served as Member Secretary of Karnataka Knowledge Commission and Karnataka State Innovation Council. Most recently, he served as a committee member for the drafting of the NEP.

Dheer JhingranoJhingaran is a retired bureaucrat and has served as the Principal Secretary for Education in Assam and Director in the Union Ministry of Human Resource Development. He is the founder-director of the ‘Language and Learning Foundation’ (LLF), a non-profit organization focused on improving the basic education of children in government primary schools.

Shankar MaruwadaHe is the co-founder and CEO of EkStep Foundation and is an entrepreneur and marketing professional with vast experience working on large scale projects like Aadhaar, India’s national identity programme.
