Meet the Princess Riding a Horse on Chanel’s Runway

On Tuesday, Chanel unveiled its latest collection, sending a real-life princess down the runway riding a horse. The French luxury fashion house opened its show at Haute Couture Week in Paris, with Charlotte Casiraghi walking down the runway. The 35-year-old, who is eleventh in line for the throne of Monaco, surprised guests when she appeared on the runway riding her horse “Cuscas.” the trend Reported.

Charlotte Casiraghi is Grace Kelly’s granddaughter and a competitive show jumper with over a decade of experience. She is the brand ambassador of the channel since 2020.

On Tuesday, Charlotte walked the catwalk at the Grand Palais Ephemera in a collarless Chanel jacket in lapis blue tweed with matching flared trousers. Her outfit was part of Chanel’s Spring/Summer 2022 collection.

Charlotte reportedly circled the room on her Spanish Bay horse before hopping into a canter. Attendees at the show included Vogue editor-in-chief Anna Wintour, Margot Robbie, Pharrell Williams and Sofia Coppola.

In a promotional video released prior to the show, Charlotte Casiraghi said the use of horses was in line with the founder’s vision for her brand. “I immediately think of Chanel and Gabrielle Chanel’s story,” she said, according to CNN, “Horses and equestrians were extremely, if not important, in their vision of the brand.”

But the use of a horse at a fashion show upset many animal rights activists. Several Instagram users expressed their displeasure by filling the channel’s comment section with ‘thumbs down’ emoticons.

Meanwhile, PETA’s UK director Alyssa Allen told insider That the use of horses was an “absurd and thoughtless gimmick that could have ended in disaster.”

“Horses are intelligent, complex and easily intimidated individuals, not fashion accessories to ride on the catwalk amidst flashing lights and booming music,” said Ms Allen.

Opinion was divided on Twitter, with some praising the inclusion of Chanel’s horse in their fashion shows as “iconic”, while others were more critical.

Charlotte Casiraghi’s association with the channel goes well beyond being its ambassador. Chanel’s late creative director Karl Lagerfeld was a close friend of his family, especially his mother, Princess Caroline of Hanover. Charlotte’s wedding gown was also designed by Chanel.
