The leader of the People’s Democratic Party claimed that the police had locked the main gate of Mehbooba’s house.

A party leader claimed that PDP president Mehbooba Mufti was put under house arrest on Monday so that she could not go to Anantnag to meet the family of a youth killed in a gunfight between security forces and terrorists last week. The leader of the People’s Democratic Party claimed that the police had locked the main gate of Mehbooba’s house.
A police official said the PDP chief was not allowed to visit Anantnag due to security reasons. According to the police, Shahid Ahmed was killed in a gunfight between Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) personnel and terrorists in Shopian district on October 24.
The PDP leader claimed that Mehbooba was put under house arrest at her Fairview residence in Gupkar area of the city here and she was not allowed to go out. He was to visit the family of the slain youth Shahid Ahmed in South Kashmir’s Anantnag district. The party leader said that she wanted to express her condolences to the bereaved family, but they were not allowed to step out of their residence.
According to the PDP leader, the police have locked the main gate of Mehbooba’s house. A police vehicle has been deployed just outside the gate to check any kind of movement. Ahmed’s death drew strong reactions from mainstream political parties in the Valley and demanded a probe.
Mehbooba had said that it was sad that the armed forces in Kashmir operate with “so much impunity”.
