Memorandum submitted to Rayalaseema MLAs, MPs on Siddeshwaram Barrage

To secure the water rights of Rayalaseema, representatives of the Rayalaseema Steering Committee (RSC) on Sunday approached 52 MLAs and eight MPs from the region.

The representatives presented representations demanding the construction of a bridge-cum-barrage near Siddeshwaram instead of the iconic bridge and stoppage of the Upper Badhara project.

Hundreds of Samiti workers and leaders visited every assembly and parliamentary constituency in teams and contacted MLAs and MPs at their offices or homes.

They pasted memorandums on the doors of the offices and houses of the people’s representatives who were unavailable.

Committee convenor Byreddy Rajasekhara Reddy said he also plans to meet Union ministers Nitin Gadkari and Gajendra Singh Shekhawat to clarify the situation. He said that the iconic bridge will serve only as a tourism item or it may become a good location for film shooting but it will not serve any other purpose, especially not to save the Rayalaseema region from drought conditions. .
