Mercedes-Benz India has announced a partnership with the India Development Council (BVP) to set up an oxygen plant at Seth Tarachand Hospital in Pune, Maharashtra. The new oxygen plant will come with a capacity of 280 litres/min and is expected to support at least 200 beds in the hospital. This facility can also help in hospital expansion in future and provide additional oxygen to other hospitals through cylinders. Mercedes-Benz India is financing 50 per cent of the cost of the plant, while the rest is raised by the India Development Council.

Mercedes-Benz India says the new facility will help boost oxygen stocks at a time when India is still reporting over 30,000 COVID-19 cases a day and a third wave is predicted to hit the nation soon . The plant was officially handed over to the hospital at a ceremony in the presence of Maharashtra Governor Bhagat Singh Koshyari and Mercedes-Benz India Managing Director and CEO Martin Schwenk.

At that time the company has also supported Grant Medical Foundation (Ruby Hall Clinic) by donating ventilators directly.
