According to local officials, the team members who have reached Mumbai are Mercedes-Benz experts who will inspect the vehicle involved in the accident which is currently taking place at the automaker’s facility in Thane. Palghar Superintendent of Police Balasaheb Patil said, “A team of three experts has landed in Mumbai from Hong Kong. They will start the inspection work from Tuesday in the presence of police officers.
Another official said the final report from the experts would be submitted to the police after a day or two. The report will include all findings from the expert inspection and will also be submitted to Mercedes-Benz. The GLC 220d 4-MATIC that Mistry was traveling in at the time of the accident has a 5-star Euro NACP safety rating. It gets 7 airbags and a comprehensive suite of crash mitigation features like advanced ABS, EBD and ESP.
Preliminary investigation revealed that Mistry and another passenger sitting behind were not wearing seat belts at the time of the accident.
