Mesmerizing footage shows densely packed flamingos in Kenya

A flock of flamingos seen on Lake Bogoria National Reserve in Kenya is going viral on the internet. Bogoria Lake is a bird watching spot and is famous for pink flamingos which are found in large numbers. Drone footage shows pink flamingos floating and flying along the lake.

Posted by a Twitter user named Yoda4ever, the 17-second video shows flamingos eating algae in shallow water. The caption accompanying the video read, “3,000,000 Pink Flamingos, Kenya.”

The video has garnered over 2 lakh views, 10,900 likes and many comments. One user commented, “A group of flamingos are called ‘Flamboys’.” Another commented, “Totally mind blowing wow.” The third commented, “Shhhh… I say keep the radio silence!! We will sneak through Kenya… and before they know it… world domination.”

The fourth wrote, “Wow! What a sight!”

The website said Lake Bogoria has hot springs and geysers on its west coast, caused by geothermal activity. If you want to see these flamingos, then the best time to visit this area is between August-October.

Flamingos belong to the family of Phoenicopteridae. They are famous for their bright-pink plumage, truncated legs, and S-shaped neck. According to National Geographic, birds usually indulge in plant-like water creatures called shrimp, snails and algae.
