PSG won their first trophy of the new 2022-23 season as the team defeated Nantes by a comfortable 4-0 scoreline in the Champions Trophy final on Sunday.
Christophe Gaultier is the new manager of the team this season. Gaultier had previously led the OGC Nice to several important victories. However, this time he has bigger responsibilities of handling PSG, the top contenders in the French league, and has been crowned 11 times as the king of French football.
PSG is not only a team of players running on the field to shoot the ball but also a group of talented players sharing the field to give the world a good view of football.
Mauricio Pochettino, the previous manager, could not use the talent in the right direction. On the other hand, after the match between PSG and Nantes, Gallier delighted the fans by introducing a new look of PSG which everyone was waiting for.
The match started with cheers and hooting by fans of both the teams in the stadium, which also featured a face-to-face rivalry. Gaultier’s army had stepped in to oversee Nantes.
The Parisians’ aggressive play earned them an early yellow card within 15 minutes of the start of their game. Newly bought player Witinha, playing his first final for PSG, was booked.
The match was going at a smooth pace. However, the first goal was scored in the 22nd minute. It was created by the great Lionel Messi. Neymar Jr then scored a brilliant goal. He scored with a freekick in the top left corner of the goal post. PSG got the reward for this in the injury minutes of the first half.
Later in the second half of the match, an easy short-range goal was scored by experienced defender Sergio Ramos.
During the final 10 minutes of the match, it was a Nantes defender whose foul in the goalbox resulted in a penalty for PSG. It appeared as a cherry on the cake for Messi’s troop. Another brilliant goal from Neymar caught the goalkeeper unaware and gave Gaultier’s army an easy victory.
