The Met Gala 2022 saw a slew of different styles and silhouettes on the red carpet. In keeping with the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Costume Institute’s In America: An Anthology of Fashion theme, celebrities interpreted the theme perfectly.
While the ensemble weaved distinct tales of a glorious past, the headpieces told a story of their own. From favorites like Iris Van Herpen, Philip Treacy, celebrity heads held high to glimmer-inspired headpieces throughout the event, each piece made a fashion statement in its own unique way. In Iris van Herpen’s abstract art, Winnie Harlow complements Winnie and her outfit to a tee. The design of the head piece resembled a creative version of the Venus flytrap plant and featured 3D accents.
Blake Lively, Anna Wintour, and Emma Chamberlain
Like Tom Ford said ‘I almost wore a tiara’. The stars wore tiaras on the red carpet. Starting with Anna Wintour who paired her Chanel dress with an American tiara. Also donning the tiara was Blake Lively, who looked like royalty at Atelier Versace. According to Blake, the tiara took inspiration from the Statue of Liberty. The tiara had 7 tiers and 25 diamonds, similar to the seven spikes and 25 windows on the crown. Attendees Emma Chamberlain and Hamish Bowles also experimented with the head piece.
Janelle MonaePrecious Lee and Michaela Jaye
Extraordinary hairstyles took a backseat at the Met Gala this year. Celebrities including Janelle Monae, Precious Lee and Michaela J walked up the stairs at the gala donning a jeweled headpiece paired with a shimmering Ralph Lauren gown. Like Janelle, Michaela J dazzled in an all gold and silver Moschino sequin dress with a matching head scarf. While Precious Lee kept her head scarf to a minimum, she accessorised her look with gold jewellery.
Sarah Jessica Parker, Normani, and La La Anthony
Actress Sarah Jessica Parker loves her seductive look and this time too she went all out with her Philip Treacy headpiece. Hints of pink in the Over the Top Black and White Fascinator added a pop of color to her overall look. La La Anthony was keeping her company, looking dazzling in a disc-like fascinator featuring red roses and paired with a Laquan Smith ensemble. Normani was also seen donning a simple yet flashy fascinator, who came dressed as Christian Siriano.
