In a new round of layoffs, Meta Platforms Inc plans to lay off thousands of people as soon as this week, Bloomberg News reported on Monday. The layoffs at Meta come just months after the Facebook-parent cut more than 11,000 people from its workforce.
The new round of job cuts is driven by financial goals and is different from “flattening,” the report said, citing people familiar with the matter.
Last month it was reported that Meta was considering downsizing and restructuring. Although Meta declined to comment at the time, spokesman Andy Stone tweeted several past statements from CEO Mark Zuckerberg indicating that more layoffs were likely in the future.
