Meta is reportedly investigating ex-COO Sheryl Sandberg’s use of company resources

The Wall Street Journal reported Friday, citing people familiar with the matter, that attorneys are investigating Meta Platforms’ outgoing head of operations Sheryl Sandberg’s use of company resources for several years.

Several employees have been questioned in connection with the investigation. Facebook-Parents metaThe WSJ reported that the investigation has been ongoing since at least last fall.

Meta and Sandberg did not immediately respond to Reuters requests for comment.

The report said activities being investigated include Sandberg’s foundation, supporting Lean In, and the writing and promotion of his second book, “Option B: Facing Adversity, Building Resilience and Finding Joy.” This is the job of meta employees.

Earlier in June, Sandberg, who had a close partnership with the CEO Mark Zuckerberg Driven the growth of the world’s largest social network, announcing his departure from the company 14 years later.

Chief Development Officer Javier Olivan is set to take over as chief operating officer, although Zuckerberg said he does not plan to directly replace Sandberg’s role within the company’s current structure.

Sandberg said she would continue to serve on Meta’s board after leaving the company in the fall.
