Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella, Google’s Sundar Pichai honored with Padma Bhushan

Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella and Alphabet CEO Sundar Pichai were awarded the Padma Bhushan as the government announced the Padma awards on the eve of Republic Day. Satya Nadella and Sundar Pichai have been awarded for their contribution in the category “Trade and Industry”.

Padma Bhushan is the third highest civilian award in India after Bharat Ratna and Padma Vibhushan.

Former Uttar Pradesh chief minister Kalyan Singh, who passed away last year, will posthumously receive the Padma Vibhushan for public affairs. Late CDS General Bipin Rawat will also be posthumously awarded the Padma Vibhushan for civil service. Meanwhile, Congress leader Ghulam Nabi Azad will be awarded the Padma Bhushan for public affairs.

The list includes four Padma Vibhushan, 17 Padma Bhushan and 107 Padma Shri awards. Out of 128 awardees, 34 are women and the list also includes 10 persons from the category of Foreigners/NRIs/PIOs/OCIs and 13 posthumous awardees.

Late CDS Bipin Rawat, Kalyan Singh and Ghulam Nabi Azad are among the Padma awardees. full list here
