Microsoft Teams is back online after suffering major outage

New Delhi: MS Teams was back up for most users after the chat-based collaboration platform faced a major outage for over an hour. A massive outage in MS Teams disrupted communications for thousands of its customers in the country.

Microsoft Corp’s MS Teams app was facing a major outage on Wednesday afternoon, with thousands of users reporting that they were unable to access the Teams app. Downdetector.com, a website that tracks outages through multiple sources including user reports, showed that there were close to 2000 incidents reported by people with Microsoft Teams in India. Other Microsoft services that were hit include Microsoft 365, Outlook, GitHub, Teams, Azure.

Microsoft tweeted from its official handle that it has received reports of users being unable to access Microsoft Teams or take advantage of any features. The tech giant further said that it is investigating the issue.

According to Downdetector.com Microsoft Teams has been experiencing problems since 12:30 PM IST.

Meanwhile, Microsoft posted its slowest sales growth in more than six years in its December 2022 quarter as it posted a loss of $1.2 billion after laying off 10,000 people amid poor PC sales globally.

Revenue was $52.7 billion and increased 2 percent while net income was $16.4 billion, down 12 percent for the quarter ended December 31.

Revenue in ‘More Personal Computing’ was $14.2 billion and decreased by 19 percent. While Windows OEM revenue decreased by 39 percent, Xbox content and services revenue decreased by 12 percent and devices revenue by 39 percent.

Microsoft Chairman and CEO Satya Nadella said the next big wave of computing is brewing, as Microsoft Cloud transforms the world’s most advanced AI model into a new computing platform.
