Harnaaz will feed Sandhu Punjabi food at home
Miss Universe 2021, Harnaaz Sandhu, who has won the crown for India after 21 years, will be given ‘makki ki roti and sarson ka saag’ by her parents when she returns to her hometown of Chandigarh. Harnaaz’s mother Ravinder Kaur said at her residence in Mohali, “It is a proud moment for all of us. I cannot express how happy I am. She has always been very active and determined.”
Gynecologist Kaur said, “Makki ki roti and sarson ka saag are her favorites and I would love to treat her to it when she comes home. It doesn’t add calories either.”
Before taking the crown, a confident Harnaaz had tweeted: “India, tonight we will shine!”
“Finally the great day! I feel so lucky to represent my beloved country, no doubt I will try my best to get the crown for India, that is the great goal of all, and today One of us will finally be able to make it happen. #MissUniverse #MissIndia.”
According to his mother, Harnaaz, who hails from a middle-class family, has proved his mettle.
“He is very confident and focused on achieving his goals. We have supported his passion,” she said.
Excited by her victory, Harnaaz’s brother, Harnoor, said: “Harnaaz remains calm and focused most of the time. She believed from her school days that one day she would achieve this title and she achieved it. “
Punjabi film actress Harnaaz is currently pursuing her post graduation in Public Administration.
He has also acted in upcoming Punjabi films like ‘Yaara Diya Poo Baran’ and ‘Bai Ji Kuttange’.
After winning the competition, the family went to a nearby Sikh temple to offer prayers.
Harnaaz, who started modeling at a young age, has earlier won the title of Miss Chandigarh and Miss Punjab.
Sandhu’s father has 17 brothers, and Harnaaz is the only female child in the extended family.
Harnaaz’s father PS Sandhu said, “When she (Harnaaz) was born, we distributed sweets at the hospital,” adding, “We will all do ‘Bhangra’ when she comes.”
Harnaaz’s hobbies are singing, cooking, theater and horse riding. She has won the Miss Universe crown after Lara Dutta won in 2000.
