MLA, Mayor, Collector unveil renovated statue of Krishnamma Thalli at Prakasam Barrage

West MLA Vellampalli Srinivas, Mayor Rayana Bhagyalakshmi and NTR District Collector S. Along with Dilli Rao, unveiled the reconstructed statue of Krishnamma Thalli on the banks of Krishna river on 14 April.

Following the instructions of Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy, the work of repairing the damaged statue of Krishnaveni located at Prakasam barrage, Sri Srinivas, who was also a former minister, was taken up.

Vijayawada Municipal Corporation (VMC) commissioner Swapnil Dinkar Pundkar said the idol was installed on the river bank in 1980. Shri Durga Malleswara Swami Devasthanam Trust Board President Karnati Rambabu, Executive Officer D. Bramaramba, Irrigation Executive Engineer, PVR Krishna Rao were present.

The Collector said that the second phase of the retaining wall along the river and the security wall for Sri Durga Malleswara Swamy Temple would be constructed soon. Irrigation department officials said, “The retaining wall can withstand up to eight lakh cusecs of flood.”

“The Chief Minister directed to submit the revised estimate for the temple protection wall, which will be submitted,” Mr. Delhi Rao said. The officers garlanded the statue of Krishnamma Thalli and offered prayers on the occasion.
