Moderate rain to occur in Delhi in next 12 hours: Meteorological Department

The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) on Monday said that there is a possibility of light to moderate rain in the national capital in the next 12 hours.

The weather office said that a fresh cloud patch coming over Delhi may cause light to moderate rain in the city.

According to the weather agency, as per IndiaMetSky Weather data, the moisture is settling over the mountain peaks of Aravalli and rising up immediately.

“The long active tail of the Western Disturbance is loaded with thunderstorms. Heavy moisture intrusion, convergence and interesting topology from both the seas are helping this series of long thunderstorms. The moisture is hitting the mountain tops of the Aravalli and it is immediately above Has risen. The chain extends from South Rajasthan – Delhi,” tweeted IndiaMetSky Weather.

Earlier on Sunday, the IMD had predicted light to moderate rain and thundershowers over Delhi-NCR and adjoining areas on the night of January 29 and January 30.

The Met department said light to moderate rain and thundershower would occur at most places in the national capital.

Narela, Bawana, Alipore, Kanjhawala, Buddha Jayanti Park, Jafarpur, Najafgarh, Delhi Cantt, India Gate, Akshardham, Palam, Safdarjung, Lodi Road, Nehru Stadium, IGI Airport, Vasant Vihar, RK Puram, Defense Colony, Lajpat Nagar, Vasant The Meteorological Department in its earlier forecast had said that there would be light rain in Kunj, Hauz Khas, Malviyanagar, Kalkaji, Mehrauli, Tughlakabad, Chhatarpur, Ignou, Ayanagar and Deramandi areas of Delhi.

In the NCR region, light to moderate rain was predicted at Loni Dehat, Hindon AF Station, Bahadurgarh, Indirapuram, Noida, Gurugram and Manesar.

The Meteorological Department said on Sunday that Bhiwani in Haryana, Kithore in Uttar Pradesh, Garhmukteshwar, Hapur and Gulawati have also been reported to receive light rain.

Jind, Gohana, Hansi, Rohtak, Charkhi Dadri, Mattanhel, Jhajjar, Loharu, Farukhnagar, Kosli, Mahendragarh, Narnaul in Haryana; The weather office had said that there is a possibility of rain in Uttar Pradesh’s Bijnor, Khatauli, Sakoti Tanda, Hastinapur, Chandpur, Daurala, Meerut, Modinagar and Rajasthan’s Pilani and Jhunjhunu late Sunday night.
