Monsoon tracker: Very heavy rain alert issued in these states today, says IMD

Monsoon has hit several parts of the country giving a whip of relief from the scorching weather. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted heavy rainfall during the next five days in different parts of the country. IMD has also said that the heat wave conditions over East India and adjoining Central India areas are likely to abate from 23 June. 

For 23 June, the IMD has forecast partly cloudy skies with a possibility of very light rain in Delhi. The minimum and maximum temperatures in the city are expected to settle around 29 degrees Celsius and 39 degrees Celsius, respectively. 

The weather has also issued an alert for heavy to very heavy rain at isolated places over NCAP (North Coastal Andhra Pradesh) and Yanam for the next four days, starting from June 23 to 26.

“Heavy to very heavy rain likely at Isolated places over NCAP (North Coastal Andhra Pradesh) & Yanam. Heavy rain is likely at Isolated places over SCAP (South Coastal Andhra Pradesh) and Rayalaseema. Thunderstorms accompanied by lightning and Gusty winds with a speed of 40-50 Kmph likely at isolated places over NCAP & Yanam and SCAP. Thunderstorms accompanied by lightning are likely at isolated places over Rayalaseema. Strong winds of speed 30-40 kmph likely at isolated places over Rayalaseema”, said the weather department.

Northeast and adjoining East India

– Light to moderate rainfall at most places with isolated thunderstorm and lightning very likely during next four days.

-Heavy to very heavy rainfall over Assam and Meghalaya on 23 June and over Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim, Assam and Meghalaya on 23 June.

-Heavy rainfall also likely over Bihar, Jharkhand on 23 June; Gangetic West Bengal on 22nd & 25th June; and Odisha during 22-26 June with isolated very heavy falls over Odisha 23rd and 24th June.

Northwest India:

– IMD has predicted light to moderate fairly widespread rainfall with isolated thunderstorm & lightning over Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, East Uttar Pradesh during 23-25 June and over plains of Northwest India from 25th June. 

– Heavy rainfall very likely over Uttarakhand during 23-26 June; Himachal Pradesh during 24th-26th June; Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh & Delhi and Uttar Pradesh on 25th and 26th June.

Central India

– IMD has also predicted light to moderate scattered to fairly widespread rainfall with isolated thunderstorm and lightning over the region during next four days.

– Heavy to very rainfall very likely over Madhya Pradesh during 23rd-26th June; Chhattisgarh during 22nd-26th June and Vidarbha during 24th-26 June.

South India:

– IMD has also predicted light to moderate scattered to fairly widespread rainfall with isolated thunderstorm and lightning very likely over the South India during the next four days.

– Heavy rainfall also likely over Coastal Andhra Pradesh during 22-24 June, Coastal Karnataka and Telangana druing 22-26 June and Interior Karnataka on 25 and 26 June.

West India:

– IMD has also predicted light to moderate isolated to scattered rainfall with isolated thunderstorm and lightning very likely over Madhya Maharashtra, Marathawada, Gujarat Region during 23-25 June and increase thereafter.

– Heavy rainfall also likely over Konkan and Goa during 23rd-26th June; over Madhya Maharashtra and Gujarat Region on 25 and 26 June.
