The district administrations in Vellore, Tiruvannamalai, Ranipet and Tirupattur vaccinated over one lakh people in the third mega immunization camp held between 7 am and 7 pm on Sunday.
In four districts, Tiruvannamalai set up 1,017 camps to vaccinate 64,321 persons, including 27,197 from Cheyyar block.
This is less than the second mega camp held on September 12, where 77,085, including 35,000 who had taken the second dose, were vaccinated. At present there are total 19.62 lakh people above 18 years of age in the district. At the end of the third camp, more than 11 lakh people were vaccinated in the district.
“House-to-house visits by health workers are also being conducted, especially in tribal villages to cover more residents,” said Tiruvannamalai District Collector B Murugesh.
In Vellore, 804 camps were organized covering 247 villages, four nagar panchayats and two municipalities. More than 20,000 people were vaccinated. The district has a population of 13 lakh people who can be vaccinated.
The newly formed Tirupattur and Ranipet districts organized 526 and 546 camps, covering 27,000 and 33,236 people, respectively.
