Most of the demands of the employees fulfilled: CM

Blaming the government’s inability to accede to the demands of all employees for the “extremely tight financial condition” of the state, Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy on Sunday said that the wage bill, which stood at ₹52,000 crore in 2018-19, will be waived off. This year was estimated to increase by ₹67,000 crore in general and again ₹11,000 crore on account of additional payment towards revised HRA, CCA, additional quantum of pension and some other benefits.

Despite the state’s own revenue remaining stagnant at around ₹60,000 crore in 2020-21, against the estimated ₹84,000 crore, the government largely satisfied the employees, which they had sought, the chief minister said. Addressing the leaders of PRC Sadhana Samiti who met him at his camp office. “Staff can still take any problem to the cognizance of the GoM and support the staff of senior officers, which will be a permanent body. Thereafter, they should think of going on strike only as a last resort,” suggested Mr. Jagan.
