MPs keep their point of view in the Parliament in some way: MP Birla

New Delhi:

A big statement has come from the Speaker of the Vidhansabha, Om Birla, in the midst of the debate about the MP not keeping his point in the Parliament. He said on Sunday that the MP has the right to speak his mind. In such a situation, it is completely wrong to say that the MPs were not given a chance to keep their point inside the Parliament. Om Birla’s case comes days after Congress leader Rahul Gandhi claimed that MPs from opposition parties would not be allowed to speak. In a message to the 146th Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union in Manama, Bahrain, Om Birla said that India has a strong participatory democracy and a vibrant multi-party system where the hopes and aspirations of the people are expressed through elected representatives and all in the Lok Sabha. Members are free to express their views.

Explain that Gandhi had alleged during a function in London that the voice of opposition leaders was suppressed in Parliament. Om Birla said that the Parliament of India has always held wide ranging and relevant debates and discussions on contemporary global issues such as gender change, gender equality, sustainable development and the COVID-19 pandemic. Lok Sabha Speaker emphasized that global institutions promoting peace, harmony and justice are vital for peace, prosperity, stability and a just global order.

In this context, he said that there is a broad consensus among many countries to reform global structures such as the United Nations Security Council so that these institutions reflect the realities of an increasingly settled global order. Reforms and delays in the United Nations Security Council may not be likely. Today’s speaker said that it is important to include this topic in the future global agenda so that we can contribute more and more to global threats like climate change, sustainable development, poverty, gender equality and terrorism.
