Chennai Super Kings captain MS Dhoni took his team to the play-offs with a six off Siddharth Kaul in the last over. On Thursday of the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) 2021. Chasing 135 for victory, CSK needed three runs in the final over and Ambati Rayudu gave the strike to his captain. Dhoni missed a pull shot but sent the fourth ball over the boundary ropes to end the match in style. With that six from Kaul, Dhoni not only secured a win for CSK but also assured the Chennai-based franchise a place in the play-offs.

Earlier, Dhoni had won the toss and invited Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) to bat at the Sharjah Cricket Ground.

SRH had a poor start and lost Jason Roy, who scored a half-century in the previous fixture, for just two.

Captain Kane Williamson also failed with the bat as he missed a full delivery from Dwayne Bravo. The West Indies all-rounder again hit a boundary to send Priyam Garg back.

Late cameos from Wriddhiman Saha (44) and Abhishek Sharma and Abdul Samad helped SRH post 134/7 in their allotted 20 overs.

Faf du Plessis and Ruturaj Gaikwad provided the right platform for CSK to chase down the small target.

Both shared a 75-run partnership for the first wicket. Gaikwad was dismissed for 45 while du Plessis (41) also missed a half-century.

In the end, CSK held onto the line with two balls to spare.
