MSRTC Bus Strike: As the strike continues, MSRTC operates 36 buses. Mumbai News – Times of India

Mumbai: Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation ,msrtcAmidst the ongoing strike of the employees, 36 buses were operated in the state on Friday.
MSRTC officials had claimed earlier in the day that some employees had resumed work in its workshops.
The agitation began on October 28, demanding the merger of the corporation with the Maharashtra government.
MSRTC vice-chairman and managing director Shekhar Channe told PTI that 36 buses were operated from 17 locations during the day.
Buses ply on routes including Mumbai-Satara, Dadar-Pune, Swargate (Pune)-Thane, Nashik-Pune, Nashik-Dhule, Solapur-Akkalkot and Rajapur-Burumbewadi.
Maximum seven buses operated on the Pune station-Dadar route. More than 850 passengers traveled in 36 buses.
All the 250 depots of MSRTC are closed since Monday.
The MSRTC also released a pamphlet on Friday, urging the employees to end the strike immediately.
The corporation’s accumulated losses have increased to Rs 12,000 crore, yet it paid salaries for the last 18 months by taking financial assistance of Rs 3,549 crore from the state government.
“We will continue to make sincere efforts for timely payment of salaries,” the corporation assured.
The pamphlet also mentions to meet other demands such as increase in dearness allowance and house rent allowance and Diwali gifts for employees.
Common commuters are suffering and MSRTC is losing Rs 15 to 20 crores every day due to the strike, it also warns of a long term financial impact.
