On the bullet train project, NHSRCL cannot float tenders unless 90% of the land is in its possession. NHSRCL had recently told the Maharashtra government that the Japanese side has requested tentative dates for commencement of civil works in the state as tenders for underground stations at BKC and an underseat tunnel were canceled after repeated postponements. has gone. It added that unless the land at BKC and Vikhroli is awarded, bids cannot be placed for the construction of underground terminus and 21 km of underwater tunnel.

The land clearance for BKC was given in February 2018, while for Vikholi, a proposal to change the use of the land was submitted to the urban development department in October 2019. For the remaining 135 km of PF track in Thane and Palghar, relief and rehabilitation awards, compensation awards for some land plots and approval of the gram panchayat were required. About 95 hectares of forest land has not been given even after depositing the payment of mandatory fee in March 2021.
In Palghar, around 70% of the total requirement of 288 hectares has been acquired, while in Thane, 78% of the required 141 hectares is now in the possession of NHSRCL.
