Mumbai Local Trains: Western Railway plans more AC coaches for local services

Western Railway is planning to increase AC coaches for local train services in Mumbai. A survey was conducted among local train commuters of the Mumbai suburban network, in which Western Railway tried to know about the preferences of the people.

talking to news agency ANIAlok Bansal, General Manager, Western Railway said that the survey was conducted with 20 questions and 70% of the passengers requested the railway authorities to increase the number of AC locals.

“We are working towards more AC local services and we are in constant talks with the Mumbai Urban Transport Project (MUTP) of the Maharashtra government and the Mumbai Rail Vikas Nigam (MRVC) of the central government,” Bansal said.

He said that Mumbai local is called the lifeline of Mumbai and with time people are looking for better facilities and amenities in local trains and because of this most of the people who participated in the survey have opted for increase in AC local rail services. Chosen.

Talking about the future of non AC local services, he told ANI That at present non-AC services will also be available in a certain proportion in each local train.

He further said that more AC locals will be introduced in the coming days and in the near future most of the trains will have AC facility.

“We are also planning for hybrid local trains where AC coaches and non AC coaches will also be in the same train. We expect that in the coming few years, all local people will have AC coaches along with the existing non AC coaches. We are doing a feasibility test for the same,” Bansal said.

Bansal also said that Western Railway officials are in talks with the Indian Coach Factory (IFC) to discuss the technical issues of connecting AC coaches with non-AC coaches of local trains and other issues.
