The case pertains to extortion calls made to builder-cum-hotel businessman Bimal Agarwal between January 2020 and March 2021. The accused are former Mumbai Police Commissioner Param Bir Singh, Sumit Singh alias Chintu, Alpesh Patel, Vinay Singh alias Bablu and Riyaz Bhati. , They have been booked under sections 384 and 385 (both related to extortion) 34 (common intention) of the Indian Penal Code.

On 20 October, the Maharashtra government told the Bombay High Court that Mr Singh was not traceable and could not make a statement that no coercive action would be taken against him. So far, three non-bailable warrants have been issued against Mr. Singh.

The statement was made when the court was hearing a petition filed by Mr Singh seeking quashing of an FIR lodged against him at two places. The petition mentioned, “The FIR refers to an incident of 2015 and has been registered of late after failing to pressurize him to withdraw his complaint against former Home Minister Anil Deshmukh.”

He is in jail on charges of alleged involvement in the Vaz Antilia case and murder or Mansukh deer.

On February 25, 20 gelatin sticks were found in an SUV car outside the residence of industrialist Mukesh Ambani. Police said the car was stolen from Airoli-Mulund bridge on February 18.

The car’s owner Mansukh Hiran, an auto parts dealer was found on March 5 in Kalwa Creek. The case was transferred from Maharashtra Police to NIA on March 8.
