Mumbai Rape Case: 32-year-old rape victim dies in Mumbai hospital Mumbai News – Times of India

MUMBAI: A 32-year-old woman, who was raped and brutally assaulted at Saki Naka in the early hours of Friday, succumbed to her injuries on Saturday.
The victim fought for life for 36 hours at Rajawadi Hospital.
Accused has been arrested. He was identified and tracked with the help of CCTV footage within hours of the incident.
Police said that the accused did not reveal whether he had raped the victim before she piped into the private parts of the victim.

At around 3.15 am on Friday, a security guard near Chandivali studio called the police control room and informed that a woman had been beaten up and the police had sought help.
DCP (Zone X) Maheshwar Reddy said the Sakinaka police team reached the spot within 10 minutes and found the injured woman covered in blood in a parked tempo vehicle.
He was immediately taken to the hospital.
The DCP confirmed that the woman died due to serious injuries for which she had undergone multiple surgeries.
According to the doctor’s report, the victim has sustained wounds in the vagina, perineum and anus.
“The accused have been booked under IPC sections for murder, rape, unnatural offense and sexual assault,” the police said.
The victim lived on the roadside and used to do strange things.
The accused is a driver.
National Commission for Women (NCW) chairperson Rekha Sharma has taken serious note of the incident.
Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray has also taken the incident seriously and is discussing it with the officials concerned, while Leader of Opposition Devendra Fadnavis said he was shocked by the developments.
Nawab Malik ensures speedy investigation
Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) leader Nawab Malik condoled the death of the victim and ensured a speedy investigation into the matter.
Talking to ANI, Malik said that it is sad that the woman is no more. “The accused has been arrested and the government will definitely file the charge sheet within the time limit,” he said.
Malik said, “Fast track court should be set up for this case and there should be such punishment which should warn people against committing such heinous crime and also state government’s stand on it.”
BJP targets MVA government over women’s safety
In Maharashtra, the BJP demanded death penalty for the accused involved in the rape case and also hit out at the Shiv Sena-led Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) government over the issue of women’s safety.
Devendra Fadnavis said, “I know it is in the hands of the judiciary to punish. But I think the guilty should be hanged.”
He further added, “The entire responsibility of this incident rests on the state government as there is no respect left for the law. It is horrifying to know what kind of pain he had to endure. I am deeply saddened by his death. I cannot express my feelings in words.” I can’t express. This is not only shameful, but it has made me angry. The state needs to take some action.”
