Mumbai: Worli to Marina Drive in 8 Minutes! Will have to travel through tunnel, sea crossing road and bridge

Everyone is eagerly waiting for the completion of the coastal road being built on the western seashore of Mumbai. After the construction of this road, the journey from Marine Drive to Worli will be completed in just eight minutes, that too without any toll. The dream of Coastal Road, which is going to become the new identity of Mumbai, is fast taking shape. The first phase of Coastal Road will be from Bandra-Worli Sea Link to Marine Drive. It will have a tunnel, a road crossing the sea and a bridge over the sea.

The journey from Marine Drive to Priyadarshini Park will have to be covered through a tunnel. For this, there will be two tunnels of two kilometers each. Out of this, one is completely stuck while the other work is going to be completed soon. The road will go from Priyadarshini Park to Marine Drive in the tunnel. Means if we enter inside from here, we will reach Marine Drive for some reasons only, i.e. other geographies including Granthabar Hill will pass through underground.

Mantaiah Swamy, chief engineer of BMC’s Coastal Road, told that it has three lanes. Two lanes will be reserved for general traffic and one lane will be reserved for ambulances, buses and emergency services.

L&T official Pradeep Patil said that its depth ranges from 10 meters to 70 metres. The zone of Malabar Hill has greater depth. As Girgaon becomes Chowpatty, the depth will be less. It is India’s first largest tunnel of 12 meter diameter. One side tunnel has been completed, the other side will also be done in a few days.

The journey will start after the tunnel is being built by crossing the sea. The road behind the Mahalakshmi temple proceeded towards Worli in front of Haji Ali. There is a big interchange here adjacent to Haji Ali. Means one can go to the outer city from Coastal Road or can come on Coastal Road. Such big interchanges are being made. This can be called double decker overham.

There are a total of three interchanges on Coastal Road. The first from the tunnel near Amarshan Garden, the second near Haji Ali and the third near Sea Link in Worli. There will also be a car parking facility.

BMC Deputy Chief Engineer Vijay Jore said that the portion built from Priyadarshini Park to Worli is completely above the relief. Which is 111 hectares. It has three interchanges. The width is about six kilometers. It has 10 bus bays, 16 public underpasses. This is a big part of landscaping. There will be no sign on it. Reach Worli from Marine Drive in eight minutes. While it takes half an hour from the old road. There is no toll on this road.

This is the picture of Mumbai. Coastal road is being constructed at speed in Worli, as well as amusement park, jogging track, cycle track are also being built for the convenience of the people. Especially the way we see on Marine Drive, the same arrangements are being made here.

When the matter of making the Coastal Road arose, there was a lot of opposition. It was being said that the beauty of Mumbai’s seaside would be lost, marine life would also be harmed. The fishermen also protested. But now when we are seeing that the Coastal Road project is taking shape as it was only for Marine Drive.
