‘Murder cannot silence protesters’: Varun Gandhi shares Lakhimpur viral video

Lucknow: BJP MP Varun Gandhi on Thursday posted a video purportedly of the Lakhimpur Kheri incident and said the protesters cannot be silenced through murder while demanding accountability for farmers.

“The video is crystal clear. Protesters cannot be silenced through murder. In a tweet, the Pilibhit MP said, “There should be accountability for the innocent blood of farmers and justice should be given before the message of arrogance and cruelty comes to the mind of every farmer.”

He posted a 37-second video in which a speeding Mahindra Thar jeep is seen running over people. Two SUVs – one black and the other white – were seen chasing the jeep, while the video shows people shouting and crying.

This video, which is going viral on social media, is being told of October 3, the day the violence took place in Lakhimpur Kheri.

Eight people were killed in Sunday’s violence. Four of the eight killed were farmers, who were allegedly crushed to death by vehicles driven by BJP workers on their way to welcome Uttar Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Keshav Prasad Maurya.

Two of the other four were BJP workers, the driver of Union Minister of State for Home Ajay Kumar Mishra and a journalist working for a private television channel.
