MVA Crisis: No More Crossovers, 16 Shiv Sena MLAs Will Be Loyal To Former Maharashtra CM Uddhav Thackeray Mumbai News – Times of India

Mumbai: After days of uncertainty about which of the remaining Shiv Sena Rebel leaders and now MLAs will jump to join the Chief Minister Eknath ShindeVoting for the speaker’s election on Sunday indicated that the situation is yet to be settled with Shiv Sena president Uddhav Thackeray in the camp with 16 MLAs. From this it is clear who is in favor of the trust vote on Monday.

As the Shiv Sena’s Uddhav Thackeray camp, the Congress and the NCP on Sunday issued separate whips for their members, who instructed them not to vote in favor of the confidence motion on Monday, political observers said the whip was fought. Once again on Monday it will be played between Shiv Sena factions.
According to reports, the BJP and Shinde factions will issue their whip on Monday to vote on the confidence motion.
On Sunday, both the Thackeray and Shinde camps issued a whip to all 55 Shiv Sena MLAs for the election of the Speaker. Shinde camp was successful in getting BJP candidate Rahul Narvekar to win by 164 votes in the assembly. 16 Shiv Sena MLAs from the Thackeray camp voted for its candidate Rajan Salvi.

The Shinde camp has the support of 39 rebel Shiv Sena MLAs, besides nine from smaller parties and independents. The 16 in the Thackeray camp includes his son, former environment minister Aaditya Thackeray. Shinde returned to Mumbai with his MLAs from Goa on Saturday, 2.5 years after its formation toppled the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) government.
“For now it looks like the rebellion has been put on hold, and 16 Shiv Sena MLAs are with the Uddhav camp. It is highly unlikely that more MLAs from the Uddhav camp will jump ship. But we will know this only on Monday after the trust vote. Many legislators believed that the whip issued for the trust vote was more important than that for the election of the speaker. Those who are still with the Uddhav camp are loyal and are unlikely to jump in now,” said a political observer.
Of Narvekar’s 164 votes, 104 were from BJP, 39 from Shinde camp, one from MNS, two from Bacchu Kadu’s Prahar Janshakti Party, one Rashtriya Samaj Paksha, three Bahujan Vikas Aghadi and one Jan Swaraj Shakti. With 13 independent candidates.

In the Speaker’s election, as Shiv Sena members affiliated to Shinde defied the whip of the Thackeray camp, they could face disqualification proceedings. Similarly, 16 members of the Thackeray camp who defied the Shinde camp’s whip also faced disqualification proceedings.
“All 39 MLAs have defied the whip and voted against it,” Thackeray camp whip Sunil Prabhu said.
