Realizing the importance of the upcoming assembly elections in Himachal Pradesh, BJP National President JP Nadda kicked off the party’s campaign with an impressive roadshow in Shimla on Saturday.
The road show took place on a day when the top leaders of the state Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) joined BJP, giving a major blow to Arvind Kejriwal’s party ahead of the elections. AAP’s Himachal Pradesh President Anup Kesari, General Secretary (Organisation) Satish Thakur and Una President Iqbal Singh joined the BJP at Nadda’s residence in New Delhi.

to make sure NaddaAs the roadshow turned into a show of strength, the party president was accorded a rousing welcome by party workers at the Assembly Square, which was the starting point of the roadshow from Kennedy Square to Peterhof.
The roadshow was also seen as a major mobilization program ahead of Shimla Municipal Corporation (SMC) elections to be held in May or June next month.
“The victory in SMC is a clear morale booster for the party leadership and workers. This will set the pace for the assembly elections to be held later in the year,” said a senior BJP leader from the Himachal state unit.
Meanwhile, the BJP has already coined the term ‘Mission Repeat 2022’ for the assembly elections. State leaders said they would blow up all guns during the roadshow and Nadda’s visit.
Apart from the roadshow, Nadda will attend a meeting of state office-bearers, legislature party, BJP core group and discuss the strategy for the upcoming SMC and assembly elections. Winning the SMC election is important for the BJP as it defeated the SMC in 2017 for the first time in 32 years as its results could affect the assembly elections.
