Election 2023: The results of the assembly elections in Nagaland will be declared after the counting of votes today.

Elections to the 60-member Nagaland Legislative Assembly are due on February 27. Today the counting of these elections will be done and then the ceiling will be announced. Nagaland has a coalition government of the Nationalist Democratic Progressive Party (NDPP) and the BJP. According to the projections based on exit polls, this alliance is likely to get a second term in the state.

NDPP is contesting in 40 constituencies and BJP in 20 constituencies.
The NDPP contested 40 separate elections, while the remaining 20 were unceremoniously done by the BJP. The BJP has already won one seat, the Akuluto assembly seat, from where its sitting MLA Kazheto Kinimi has been elected unopposed after his only rival withdrew from the race.

83.63 percent polling
Nagaland recorded a total voter turnout of 83.63 percent this time. In the 2018 assembly elections, this alliance won 30 constituencies, out of which NDPP got 18 tickets and BJP got 12 votes. Nagaland was ruled by the Congress till 2003, but they do not have any MLA in the current assembly.
