Nagaland massacre: Peaceful shutdown for six hours in Manipur

In Manipur, there was a peaceful bandh for six hours in Naga populated areas which ended in the afternoon on 6 December.After the murder of 16 people in Mon district of Nagaland The night of 4th December.

Official reports said that Tangkhul students and civil society organizations in Manipur have called for a bandh from 6 am on Monday. Normal life in Manipur’s Senapati district was affected by the call given by the Naga Students Federation, Nagaland. All normal life came to a standstill in these districts. There was also a shutdown in Nagaland, affecting normal life.

Manipur Chief Minister N. Biren condoled the death of innocent persons and expressed hope that appropriate action will be taken after the Special Investigation Team constituted by the Nagaland government submits its report in a month. The Center and the Army will also constitute two SITs to probe the Som incidents.

The Government of Nagaland has announced that the ongoing Hornbill festival in Kisama will continue despite the Mon incidents. However, a two-minute silence will be observed before the start of the day’s festivities in honor of the slain. But more and more tribes have pulled out of the festival in protest.
