This resulted in the death of 7 more civilians, injuring some others. The local administration and police tried to normalize the situation.
After the incident, on the evening of December 5, an angry mob of about 250 people ransacked the operating base (COB) of the company. Assam Rifles Set fire to the city of Mon and the COB building. Assam Rifles had to open fire to disperse the crowd. Another civilian died as a result.
SIT has been asked to complete the investigation within a month after investigating the Nagaland incident.
