‘Nagpur Education Policy’: Glad to accept protest charge of NEP-RSS link, says Bommai Bengaluru News – Times of India

Bengaluru: On the last day of the monsoon session, there was a heated argument in the assembly over this issue. national education policy (NEP), which is being implemented in the state.

Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai Taking a jibe at the remarks said: “If the opposition wants to claim that the NEP was the brainchild of the RSS, I am proud to accept it. It is a policy that is by Indians, by Indians and for Indians, This is in contrast to the foreign policy that Congress introduced in 1986.
There were protests over the issue in the Assembly, with opposition benches arguing that the NEP was not discussed in the House and the government was taking it forward.
“Let me tell this house that the NEP is nothing more than a document which is being promoted across the country by the BJP to fulfill the agenda of the RSS. It is not NEP, but as our KPCC president DK Shivakumar said earlier, Nagpur education policy,” said Siddaramaiah, the opposition leader.
Congress MLAs were already in the middle of the House to register their protest on other issues and demand extension of the session by another week. He alleged that the NEP would destroy the educational opportunities of disadvantaged groups including SC/ST communities and lay stress on people from affluent families.
The claims triggered an uproar in the Treasury bench. The BJP accused the Congress administration of pursuing foreign education policy during its 60 years of rule and said that at least the NEP did not originate in Rome.
