‘Nandini will make Gujarat’s Shrikhand, if Amul…’, Karnataka CM Bommai

Karnataka Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai on Saturday said Nandini is going to defeat Amul very soon amid the tussle between the two iconic dairy co-ops in the poll-bound state. I was speaking india today Round table.

He said, ‘Soon we are going to beat Amul because Nandini has all the products of Amul. Milk production in Karnataka was 64 lakh liters during the Siddaramaiah government, while it has increased to 84 lakh liters during my time.

Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, state party chief DK Shivakumar and general secretary KC Venugopal have visited earlier Nandini Milk Parlor in Bangalore. He termed the flagship brand of Karnataka Milk Federation (KMF) as the “pride of the state”.

Opposition Congress and JD(S) said the BJP wanted to ‘kill’ Nandini by allowing Amul in Karnataka. He also expressed apprehension that a shortage of Nandini products would be created to make way for Amul’s takeover.

The BJP government led by Basavaraj Bommai, however, denied the allegation that there was no threat Nandini from Amul,
